The proposed Barony of Wulfhurst
In the beginning, there was a Hart, a fine and noble animal. He lived in the woods, near a perfect tree. Tall and stately, this tree rose above the forest to reach the very skies. The people who lived nearby named their Hearth after the Hart, and the strength of the mighty tree.
For many years, indeed, for a full decade, the people of Hartwood lived well, and all the while the tree grew larger and larger and its roots spread across the land.
The tree and the Hart had dominion over all the island’s lands.
In due time, peoples of the woods found their hearth was becoming crowded, and so they took their families and founded another hearth, quite far away, towards the eastern edge of the woods. Their new hearth of Cragmere fared well and the folks took the symbol of the Swan as their own. And the Swan took dominion of the waters that surrounded the wild wood.
For many years, the peoples of the woods and of the waters grew prosperous and they multiplied. Yet again, some of the people of the woods decided it was time to found another hearth. They and their families moved to the western edges of the wild wood. This new hearth, called Ravensley also fared well and the people of the new hearth took for themselves the symbol of the Raven.
And the Raven had dominion of the great western skies.
All was well within the wildwoods. The people took care to share, and to husband the bounty of the land, the seas and the sky. They land was rich in all that any peoples could want or need.
Of course in due time, the rest of the world heard about the Wildwoods, and its peoples of the Hart, the Swan and the Raven.
Prince Raknar of Tir Righ, spoke to Mistress Meredith, saying, “I would like it if the peoples of the Woods remembered their history and once again came together. As togetherness is a thing Princes and Kings do rejoice in. It makes the governance of the Principality and even the Kingdom an easier task for those who are burdened with this responsibility.”
Mistress Meredith had grave doubts that the folks of the woods would be so welcoming of this news, but as the duty was laid upon her, she did indeed come to the peoples and she explained what the Prince wanted them to do.
The people of the Wildwood, being good and dutiful subjects of Tir Righ came together and started to debate of what they would call the groups of the Hart and the Swan and Raven.
And they realized that they were, and always had been, as they always would be, the people of the Wildwood.
So came to being the Barony of Wildwood.
